About Andrius

I help startups, small businesses, and creative clients turn ideas into working web applications. I build full-stack web apps in Ruby on Rails, with a particular focus on API integrations, OAuth flows, AI features powered by the OpenAI API, and clean admin panels that non-technical clients can actually use.

Recent work includes TuneLoop, a music discovery app combining the Spotify, iTunes, Deezer, and Recco Beats APIs with OAuth login; a custom musician portfolio website with a fully editable admin panel for content and layout; and an AI chatbot that recommends music gear through natural conversation using the OpenAI API.

What sets me apart: I'm a working musician and producer based in Amsterdam, so I bring real creative-industry experience to projects in music, audio, and the arts. That said, I'm equally interested in problems outside that world. Curious by nature, detail-oriented, and at my best when a project has a creative challenge at its core.

Typical projects I take on:
  • Custom Rails applications and MVPs
  • Third-party API integrations (Spotify, OpenAI, payment platforms, etc.)
  • Custom admin panels and lightweight CMS solutions
  • AI feature integration into existing web apps
  • Frontend polish with clean, considered CSS

TuneLoop - Spotify-powered music discovery web app.

TuneLoop is a Rails 8.1 application I built end-to-end that connects to a user's Spotify account and helps them rediscover their library through audio-feature
    analysis and mood-based recommendations.

After signing in via Spotify OAuth, users see their saved tracks and can:
    - Analyse any track's audio features (danceability, energy, valence, tempo, acousticness, etc.) via the ReccoBeats API.
    - Get Similar tracks by tweaking sliders for each feature - the app runs a weighted Euclidean-distance search over a 114,000-track dataset, and returns matches with
    a "Match %" score.
    - Find a track by mood - pick a mood (Happy, Sad, Calm, Energetic, Romantic) and the app recommends a track from the user's taste profile shifted toward that
    emotional target.
    - Preview tracks inline using Deezer audio previews and open them directly in Spotify.

Tech stack: Rails 8.1, PostgreSQL, Hotwire (Turbo + Stimulus), Propshaft, importmap, Solid Queue / Solid Cache / Solid Cable, deployed on Heroku. SQL similarity search, background jobs for library caching, Turbo Streams for progressive loading, and three external API integrations (Spotify, ReccoBeats, Deezer).

Built solo as my final project at Le Wagon - covers OAuth, third-party APIs, background processing, real-time updates, and data-driven recommendations.

Full-Stack Web Developer - Custom CMS Build
    DIGITAL AND IT

Designed and built a custom personal/portfolio website for a professional musician, delivered as a fully responsive Ruby on Rails 8 application. The site presents the artist's biography, discography, video catalogue, upcoming live shows, lessons offering, merch store, and contact form in a single cohesive experience.

    Key contributions:
    - Architected and developed the full stack from scratch using Rails 8, Hotwire (Turbo + Stimulus), and Dart Sass for a fast, SPA-like browsing experience without a heavy JavaScript framework.
    - Built a custom CMS using ActiveAdmin and Devise so the artist can independently manage releases, shows, videos, carousel images, merch items, and home-page content blocks without developer involvement.
    - Integrated Cloudinary for optimized media delivery and Active Storage for asset management, ensuring fast load times across devices.
    - Implemented a contact mailer pipeline, SEO meta tags, Open Graph data, favicon, and Google tags for discoverability.
    - Containerized the application with Docker and configured Kamal for one-command deployment to production, backed by PostgreSQL and Solid Queue/Cache/Cable.
    - Developed responsive, mobile-first layouts including a custom hamburger navigation, image carousels, and dynamic content blocks.

Outcome: a maintainable, self-managed platform giving the artist full editorial control over their online presence.
