After 3+ years in Big Four consulting (KPMG) and banking (KBC Group), I've had the chance to work on some genuinely complex data challenges — from building reporting systems for 16 departments simultaneously to working with 50TB+ datasets and automating reports that used to take hours every week.
What I've found along the way is that the technical part is rarely the hardest bit. Understanding what the business actually needs — and translating that into something people will genuinely use — takes just as much effort as writing the SQL.
